ASIA OCEANIA TAX CONSULTANTS' ASSOCIATION
As the world is getting smaller with the rapid growth of global economy, our taxation, which is basically a domestic affair, is getting more necessary to be closely related to that of other countries. Under such circumstances, we, the international gathering of tax professionals in the Asian-Oceania region marked our first step in history on 6 November 1992, when the inaugural meeting was convened in Tokyo to establish the Asia-Oceania Tax Consultants' Association, that is AOTCA.
We started our activities with 10 founding member bodies from 8 countries/regions. Since then, our organization has grown up to 20 member bodies including 2 associates from 16 countries/regions.
Our main purposes are to provide forums for exchanges of information, knowledge and experiences among member bodies, to promote studies on taxation, and to exert for expansion and development of tax profession. To this end, we annually organize regular meetings, seminars and lecture meetings on various issues related to taxes, and publish periodicals. Enhancing relationships with our counterpart international organizations are currently promoted.
AOTCA, as the sole international organization for the tax professionals in the area, has marked 15th anniversary in 2007. To commemorate this occasion, we organized the 2nd AOTCA International Convention with the theme of “Tax Challenges in a Globalized Environment” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in November 2007.
We will walk forward together with our colleagues not only in our territorial area but also in other parts of the world for the sake of our benefits of professions.
